WELCOME MESSAGE

By the President of AEGPL

 

As President of the AEGPL, it is my sincere privilege to invite you to the 2010 AEGPL Congress in the magnificent city of Madrid. It is only appropriate that the 2010 European Congress should be held in Spain since the year began under the leadership of the Spanish EU Presidency. Madrid, with its unique blend of classical beauty and modern dynamism is an ideal host for what promises to be the most rewarding AEGPL Congress ever.

This year’s event takes place in the context of serious economic, environmental and strategic challenges for Europe, its policy-makers, and its citizens. Charting a course toward sustained economic recovery while simultaneously pursuing long term solutions to problems such as climate change and air pollution is the defining challenge of a generation and is a key feature of the contemporary European project.

The AEGPL, strengthened by enhanced cooperation with the World LP Gas Association and an enhanced focus on advocacy at EU level, is better equipped than ever before to ensure that LP Gas’ potential contribution to meeting the challenges faced by Europe and its constituent Member States is recognized, understood, and optimized. The annual Congress provides an ideal oppor tunity for the AEGPL to engage with the industry face-to-face, providing an over view of the Association’s activities and gathering key information and messages from the sector with which to fuel the ongoing policy debate in Brussels.

In Madrid, Congress delegates will have an opportunity to demonstrate and discover the dynamism of our sector, as high-level representatives from industry, academia, and government exchange opinions and ideas about the current and future prospects for the LP Gas industry within the broader context of the European energy model. In parallel, the annual LP Gas exhibition will showcase the latest in innovative technology within the sector.

Thanks to a combination of a fantastic venue and a particularly compelling context, this year’s event will undoubtedly prove a great success. Do not miss it!
